Silent Rage lead vocalist Jesse Damon has stepped outside his band for his debut solo album. As singer/songwriters sometimes do, Jesse has used this occasion to flex his musical muscle, turning in an album of varied style and tempo.
It should be no surprise that the song quality is so high, with Jesse co-writing much of the album with AOR master Paul Sabu.
This shouldn't be an instant purchase for all Silent Rage fans, as some will be thrown by generally softer style of the album. But it should at least be checked out, as it offers something different for listeners.
Not everything is a far jump from Silent Rage - tracks like Gotta Let It Go, Do You Feel Lucky Tonight and Bad Bizzness are straight up rockers, the latter with a cool twist. The Gene Simmons co-written Everybody Needs Somebody is a groove filled rocker too.
Elsewhere, Love Isn't Love is a big ballad with a great hook, Lay The Blame and If She'd Be Mine are semi-acoustic ballads and Someone Like You is a high-tech pop ballad.
The most notable and interesting aspect of the album is the interesting rhythms employed throughout. The extra attention to detail in this area provides an interesting texture to the songs.

The Bottom Line
The production quality is mixed and generally not as good as the Silent Rage material, but the songwriting strength makes up for that.
An interesting collection of songs that like a solo album should be, is a variation of Jesse's band work and a musical extension of what he has previously accomplished.
