In the wake of the disastrous Yngwie album, I suggest you turn your guitar loving ears to this gentleman instead.
This is Kelly's second or third CD and sees him taking on the role of guitar God that Yngwie currently holds. It is true danger of going to a new owner, as Kelly is one of those guys that manages 100 notes a minute, while retaining a melodic balance.
There are mainly vocal tunes plus a few instrumentals to make up this record, which to me is a good bet for any fans of guitar heroics and a fine does of melodic metal. In the good sense of the description, this is like any good hard rocking album with a guitar wiz at the helm.
BOTTOM LINE: Simonz is also a rare breed of Japanese artist that comes across with cosmopolitan appeal. I find that most Japanese artists are purely for domestic fans and appeal only to their own country. The sound of this record will see that it gets a far wider appeal, given the chance that enough people get to hear about it!
