Riot and their new album have been the subject of more interest of late, due to their guitarist Mark Reale branching out into the Westworld project with Tony Harnell and Bruno Ravell. The excellence of that album brought about questions of Riot's style. I am here to report that although this is a very good album, it isn't going to appeal to many of the Westworld fans. This is much heavier stuff. Not the classic metal/90's metal combo heaviness of someone like Bruce Dickinson, but the more European friendly classic metal such of the likes of Sinner or Yngwie Malmsteen even. Vocalist Mike Dimeo has a great voice, especially for this sort of hard rock. In places he even reminds me of a Joe Lynn Turner at full stretch, but with a slightly higher pitched voice. | |||
