xx![]() Metal Mayhem Music will release the UK Tour Collection E.P. from Eden's Curse on November 30 and in conjunction exclusively with Melodicrock.com our readers who pre-order from this very site will receive an additional 4 Track bonus CD that is unavailable anywhere else in the world! As a thank you to the support shown by Ryan & Sarah Northrop at Metal Mayhem Music the band have pulled out some true hidden gems from their personal archives to create a true collectors item for all fans of Eden's Curse, coupling as a great introduction to the bands music with songs from both the self-titled debut and sophomore record The Second Coming, which received lavish praise on this very site, being featured. The collection includes the US exclusive bonus track from The Second Coming release, Prisoner Of The Past, plus some rare demo tracks from both studio albums, one highlight being the Angels & Demons demo which features Jo Kerslake (Steve Grimmett Band) on Female Lead Vocals. A stunning acoustic version of Sail On which the band recorded exclusively for my MRCD5 - Writing On The Wall CD and some rare soundboard recordings from the recent May 2009 UK Tour with Stratovarius and Firewind, recorded live at The Button Factory in Dublin, Ireland on the last night of the Tour. Michael Eden : "When the going gets tough, the tough gets going and no-one steps up to the plate quite like our US label partners Metal Mayhem putting others to shame and then some! Metal Mayhem believes in Eden's Curse and they knew that this band needed to take to the stage for longevity. Metal Mayhem and Metal Mayhem alone absolutely 100% made sure that this happened all in a territory that they had no vested interest in. This E.P. is our way of saying THANK YOU to Ryan and Sarah and letting them reap the rewards of the harvest that they sowed back in May. As a music collector and a fan of Eden's Curse I believe that this is a very cool little package for our fans that allows the listener an insight into the workings of our world and how our songs develop from the ideas that Paul Logue presents to us, to the midas touch of Dennis Ward, where everything that glitters is gold"! ![]() The Condemned To Burn - The UK Tour Collection E.P. features the following tracks: CD - Prisoner Of The Past (US Bonus Track), Angels & Demons (Demo), Sail On (Acoustic Version), Man Against The World (Demo), Judgement Day (Demo), Eyes Of The World (Demo), Stronger Than The Flame (Demo - Featuring Carsten Lizard Schulz),Masquerade Ball (Live), Just Like Judas (Live). MR.Com Bonus Disc - Fly Away (Live), Sail On (Live), The Voice Inside (Demo), After The Love Is Gone (Demo). ![]() Track By Track with Paul Logue : Prisoner Of The Past – A track I wrote with my Dokken head on, and in hindsight one I wish we had included on the main track listing. I hope that once the band gets an opportunity to play regular headline shows that this one becomes a mainstay in the live. A great song with some fantastic riffage! Angels & Demons (Demo) – An interesting take on this track, which has arguably become our biggest song - the crowds just go nuts when we play this one live! When you are so used to hearing Pamela Moore singing on this one we have the wonderful Jo Kerslake on Lead Vocals. Jo sang "Enemy" on the last Steve Grimmett Band release and as we needed a female singer for the demo Pete gave her a call. She has a fabulous voice too. This was the last song that we wrote for The Second Coming and it's 90% as close to the final master. Sail On (Acoustic Version)– A track we recorded exclusively for Andrew McNeice's MRCD5 compilation and without doubt my own personal highlight of all the Eden's Curse songs that I have written. A fantastic acoustic version that really shows of Michael's wonderful vocals, not to mention Tony Harnell's delicious back up lines. Thorsten always sparkles with an acoustic guitar and the guys produced a cracking arrangement. A MUST for all Eden's Curse fans to hear! Man Against The World (Demo) – The second song I wrote for The Second Coming sessions (the first being Sail On). I was a little worried that it was too light for us but Michael loved it and convinced me in the end that we should definitely record this tune. The first track I have ever written solely on piano and this version differs like "night-and-day" to the studio version, and in fact I actually prefer this version. The piano on this demo was performed by Jim Rykbost a wonderful US musician I was working on a project with. Haunting! Judgement Day (Demo) - The song and demo that started this whole roller coaster ride! Featuring Johan Bergquist of M.ILL.ION / Elevener on keys - not many people know this but Johan was the original keyboard player on the album until scheduling issues prevented him from completing recordings. I think he recorded around half of the record before Ferdy joined. The vibe is quite different but shows the progress from the scratch initial idea to the finished master track. This was used a bonus track in Brazil. Eyes Of The World (Demo) – Again, very different to the master recording, which especially highlights a lot of the production ideas that Dennis Ward brought to the master track if you compare both versions. As this was a song that Carsten Schulz and the guys in Evidence One gave us it was important that we demoed our own vision and idea for it. We knew this one was gonna be a cracker from the outset though. Stronger Than The Flame (Demo) – Carsten Schulz co-wrote a handful of tracks on the debut record with us. I would send Carsten a blank tune and a few days later the MP3 would come back with a title and some scratch lyrics but most importantly killer hooks and ideas which Michael and I would sit down and work on. Carsten and I both share a love of of all things George Lynch related and this track for me was always like a cross between his style and that European Pink Cream 69 sound that I love. In fact I believe the working title was originally "Lynch Cream". A song I absolutely adore to this day and one that we MUST play live soon. Anyway, for this version we kept some of Carsten's demo leads coupled with Mike's to create a special rendition for our fans. Two killer singers for the price of one! Masquerade Ball (Live) – We recorded most of our shows on the May Tour on Sounboard and HD Video and this one turned out really crystal clear in sound quality and video (more on that later). We had such an enthusiastic audience in Dublin that night and The Ball is always a great start to the set for us as it has the overblown grandiose introduction and then it's up tempo Melodic Metal. A song I never get tired of playing nor hearing. I hope the fans enjoy the "official bootleg" version. Just Like Judas (Live) – Track two of our live set which run directly into each other, but another great one to start with and play live. A good groove and a really great sing along chorus which always goes down well live. I also trade a few vocals lines at the start with Michael for shits n giggles. MR.Com Bonus Disc Fly Away (Live) – This one comes across a lot heavier live than on the studio album and it really works. Seems very popular when we play it live and is definetely a band favourite. Sail On (Live) – A stripped down live version that we initially were going to leave out of the May 2009 live set but we received so many emails to the Website demanding it be played. Thankfully we listened as it was the second best received song of the set each and every night we played it. Doing this live at Bloodstock in memory of Sophie Lancaster on the stage named after her was an awesome moment that we'll never forget. Hairs on the neck stuff! The Voice Inside (Demo) – An album pre-mix that I did after we had recorded most of our parts, I think just the backings were left to record. Again compare the difference to the master to hear what Dennis brings to the table in terms of production ... he's worth his weight in gold! After The Love Is Gone (Demo) – Another album pre-mix that I did. A firm favourite amongst the band and our fan base, and one that we must play live in the future sooner rather than later. Again, compare the difference to the master to hear what Dennis brings to the table in terms of production. ![]() |
