Marc Ferreira is the man behind the band and the concept of this album, released by new US melodic label Shire Records.
Marc (all vocals, keys and guitars) is joined by Alex Ferreira on drums/backing vocals and Andy Guerra on bass and backing vocals.
This is an album for fans of classic melodic rock and AOR. Late 80's and early 90's in style, the classic sound of this album is helped to stay contemporary by some great production – especially for an independent artist.
The high quality backing vocals – and mix of those vocals are no doubt inspired by the Mutt Lange / Def Leppard school of production.
Fans of the debut Harem Scarem album will find a lot to like in this album.
Opening track I'll Be There has all the hall marks of a classic melodic rock anthem, with those vocal harmonies a highlight.
Searching is even better. It's a moody, mid-tempo rocker, but has one of those great bridge-chorus double hook melodies that grabs you first listen.
You Better Wake is another strong melodic track with a style not unlike that of With A Little Love from Harem Scarem. If that appeals – you had better check this out.
Missing You and Better Off Without Me slow things down for a few tracks, only to have Give You Away crank things again with another great melodic hook.
I think the better tracks are probably stacked towards the front of the album, but it's only the last two or three tracks where the pace drops off – and that's probably due to a little bit of variation in the songs – something that isn't a big deal.
As I stated, the production is excellent for an indie release, but imagine what it could have been given a major label budget.

The Bottom Line
|
Days gone by this would have happened without a doubt, as Marc writes a very tasty set of melodic rock songs that most fans of the classic sound of the genre will love.
Marc actually self produced this and engineered and mixed it also. A talented lad I'm sure you will agree!
Well worth a listen for classic AOR and melodic rock fans.
