Kevin Lee strikes out on his own – both under his solo name and as an independent artist.
Kevin formerly fronted the MCA band Kevin Lee & The Lonesome City Kings.
It's hardly surprising to read that Kevin is a Chicago musician – his sound is influenced by fellow Chicago natives Cheap Trick and even the more plain rock elements of Enuff Z Nuff in part.
But he certainly has his own unique sound.
Loaded is not a nu-breed record, yet it has definite appeal to nu-breed fans. It's not AOR, yet there are some cool mid-western melodic rock touches that will suit those fans.
What it is, is rock n roll. Just good honest, straight up American rock.
Musically speaking, there is a classic nu-breed track in the opening number Where Do We Go From Here, there is moody Cheap Trick style pop rock in Find A Way, there is a stripped back pop rocker in the Matchbox Twenty vein with Right Here With Me and then there is the feel good Enuff Z Nuff style fuzz-rock of She's So Complicated.

The Bottom Line
|
Quite a varied set of songs, all delivered with the continuity of a record well produced and recorded in the one set of sessions.
A record for those that are more favored towards nu-breed or contemporary records, but generally one for those that just appreciate staright up American pop/rock.
